I ran into an old friend of my ex-wife this week. She was very nice to me but the situation was definitely awkward. I thought I was aware prior to the failure of my marriage how difficult this entire transition was going to be. I wasn’t entirely caught of guard when my ex left so I had a little bit of time to imagine what I was in store for – the changes my life was going to take. I don’t think it is possible to predict the ripple effects of a long-term relationship that ends.
A good friend of mine calls it collateral damage. When 2 people are together for a long time so many other lives are connected to their lives. The end of a single relationship can cause a chain reaction that ends so many friendships. The affects reach far and wide. People might mean well but the reality is that when friendships are linked to a union between 2 people that no longer exists, some of those friendships are going to change. It is very unfortunate but there is no real way around it, at least not in my case.
I feel like my creative writing juices are a bit tapped out these days because I am in the beginning stages of attempting to put together a book. I feel like I am back in college and I have a monster mid-term paper due. Truth is that I don’t know what the hell I’m doing so it will be interesting to see what comes of it. I think I am more curious than anyone to see what the finished product will be.
I’m always looking for creative healing stories to share on my blog so please e-mail me at myexwifesweddingdress@gmail.com
Smart car cover was an idea that was submitted by somebody on the blog. My ex’s dress doesn’t completely cover the car but it gets all the windows which is key here in Arizona. It helps the steering wheel and seats from getting scorching hot.

Excellent idea. However, make sure everyone knows to put that annoying crinnelin (spelling), which can be very “crunchy”, right side up……wouldn’t want to risk scratching clear-coat paint.

It would cover my hubby’s motorcycle perfectly!

that’s what editors are four – to catch such errors as the use of affect when it should be effect; or four when it should be for.

That is brilliant! Kinda puts the size of those cars in perspective though. I can’t imagine riding in one.

This is not meant to be rotten or snipey … but it should be “ripple effects” (you are writing a book afterall). I agree with your assertation though. One relationship ending can definitely change others. Everyone feels like they must choose a side. Those who want to sit out often drift from both parties.
